Waiting Room
A favourite for car trips, Waiting Room was put together during Dany’s sojourn in Sète in the south of France and consists of tracks recorded there or during visits to the UK where he worked with Gerry Power (drums, acoustic rhythm, lead guitar, harmonies) and John Owen (keyboards). The newly mixed and mastered album now brings out all the subtlety and dynamics of the recordings and is a thoughtful and emotional glimpse at being away from home — a stranger in a strange land.
The song Waiting Room itself, featuring magnificent lead guitar and drums by Gerry, is, along with Open Stairwell, a meditation on isolation and alienation, whilst Rue Du Chant Des Vagues is a good-natured look at an oldish couple in late bloom (watch out for the innuendos!). A Thousand Stars is Dany’s affectionate look at the last, fondly-remembered Irony gig before his move to France (actually, the night before). Good times with a generous helping of very dear friends — “...those we meet upon the street, and those who’ve gone forever”.
Waiting Room could well be Dany at his most perceptive — enjoy!
